World Languages

Italian 1P and Mandarin 1P have been added to the World Languagues curriculum for the 2008-09 school year.

The University of California, California State University and some other colleges require two successive years of one foreign language for entering freshman. University of California Letters and Science students are required to take a third year after entrance. The third-year requirement is waived if the student has taken three successive years of the same foreign language in high school.

It is strongly recommended that college-bound students complete their two or three years of foreign language in four or six successive semesters without interruption. High school foreign language textbooks are written for students reading at least at grade 7.
